Home Energy Management
Put your solar power to work.
Harness the full potential of your solar investment with our Excess Solar Management feature. When your solar panels generate more electricity than your home is using, this intelligent system automatically activates your Emporia EV Charger and other connected devices to use that surplus clean energy on-site.
Shop Compatible ProductsTo get started with Excess Solar Management, you'll need the following:
Vue Energy Monitor (installed in your electric panel)
Emporia App
One or more connected devices (EV chargers, smart plugs, and more)
Once you activate Excess Solar Management in the Emporia App, our platform does the heavy lifting. The Vue Home Energy Monitor tracks both solar production and home energy consumption in real-time from your electric panel. The system identifies when solar production exceeds home usage, indicating excess solar energy is available. When excess solar energy is available, connected devices activate based on your preferences and priorities. The system continuously adjusts as solar conditions change throughout the day.
When you power your home devices and EV with solar, you avoid paying for high-cost grid electricity. Excess Solar Management makes sure you're using as much solar energy on property as possible, so you can pay for less electricity from the grid and save money on your bills.
Lower your environmental impact by using your own solar energy to run energy-hungry appliances like your EV charger and heating and cooling systems. Instead of using grid energy produced primarily with fossil fuels, Excess Solar Management allows you to tap directly into the solar power you're already generating on your roof.
With the Emporia App, setting up Excess Solar Management is easy. Simply link your Vue monitor and enable your EV Charger and any other connected devices. Once that is done, your EV Charger will start charging whenever you have extra solar production.
